Education and Literacy

Education is too important to be left only to specialists. IDRAC’s training work in education and literacy is aimed at a broad range of people, including teachers, school administrators, community workers, parent groups, local government officials, and civil society organisations, who want to engage more meaningfully with education issues in their communities and in their work. Our programmes address issues such as access to quality education, inclusive learning, the rights of children to education, literacy development, and the role of communities in supporting and holding accountable the education system around them. We also engage with education policy questions, helping participants understand how national and provincial education frameworks affect what happens in classrooms and what levers exist for change. We try to keep our training practical and connected to real conditions on the ground rather than confined to theory.
