Understanding human rights in practical terms is something many development actors, government officials, and civil society practitioners need but rarely get the opportunity to develop properly. IDRAC’s human rights training programmes are designed to fill that gap in a way that is accessible, relevant, and grounded in the realities participants actually face in their work.
Our training covers foundational concepts as well as the international frameworks, covenants, and conventions that give human rights their legal and normative basis. We also walk participants through the mechanisms through which states are held accountable, including periodic reporting, universal periodic reviews, shadow reporting, and the roles of national commissions on human, women, child, and minority rights. Alongside training, we also conduct human rights assessments to help organisations understand the rights dimensions of their programmes and identify where gaps or risks may exist. Our aim throughout is to make human rights knowledge practical, usable, and connected to the work people are already doing.
